Translated title:
An introduction to Iwasawa Theory
Summary:
Iwasawa theory mainly focuses on the sizes of ideal class groups of cyclotomic fields and other related fields. The current results of this theory are stated as main conjectures which relate class groups and p-adic L-functions. The aim of this thesis was to prove Iwasawa's theorem about the growth of the sizes of class groups in p-adic extensions and provide the necessary background in order to state Iwasawa's main conjecture in terms of totally real fields.
