''The features, the methods and the benefits of the preschool music education, according to their teachers''
Summary:
In this dissertation, initially, various general characteristics of the preschool age range and of the music education within it, are extensively presented, as these are illustrated in older and contemporary bibliography and research findings, for which the references are given. Consequently, the benefits of music education are described, according to valid scientific data and also to the views of the relevant preschool and primary school educators. Finally, an analytical description of the several contexts of music education and of two music pedagogical methods and systems are depicted, in particular those by Orff and by Kodaly. The significance of this specific research lies in the necessity to highlight the arts in general and more specifically the music education, as a cognitive subject which, although it offers multiple benefits and are of utmost importance for the overall development of preschool children, it remains largely sidelined till today.

With regard to the goal of this research, this is the recording, the investigation and the analysis of the characteristics and the positive impacts of the introduction of music activities into preschool education within formal and informal learning contexts, as perceived by the preschool music educators who take action in them. The methodology used is that of the qualitative approach, while the semi-structured interview is used as a data collection tool. The sample comprise of five primary school teachers, whose basic task is the music education for preschool children. As of the research results, it is found that the music education, in addition to the development of musical skills, offers multiple significant benefits in all developmental aspects of preschool children, namely the cognitive, the socio-emotional and the kinesthetic-kinetic.

Finally, further research needs that were identified include a. deeper studies about the elements which connect the kinesis with the music education b. research of the music education benefits through the neuroscience, which studies brain structures and synapses in the human brain under specific conditions, and c. a comparative study of the various music education contexts with regard to their particular benefits and skills developed, within the preschool age range.
