Summary:
Journalism is no longer merely a science; it is a modern, complex field of research. The rapidly advancing technology along with the arrival of the Internet in our lives have revised the way in which we read the news.

News sites require a more dynamic way of appearing on our screens and a more sophisticated way of keeping our attention. Communication and marketing are two means which enable smaller companies as well as news websites to flourish either through a natural or interactive way and also tv appeal to more people with a simple click.

This particular diplomatic assignment deals with the total communication marketing approach in a news website and is conducted under the guidelines of the post-gratuate programme “Journalism and New Media” for the Faculty of Communication and Mass Media at the Department of Economics and Politics at the National Kapodistrian University od Athens.
This particular topic was chosen for two main reasons. First of all, it is related to my studies and secondly it is also relevant to my work, as I am currently employed as an editor for a news website in Athens. In my news, there is no more to a website than just its contents and news reports. It is an overall image it conveys to the reader-user which is what really matters. A journalist nowadays is in fact a multi-functional performer who needs to know what may appeal to the user and must also know how to promote it.

The theme of this research project has been a challenge as there not many reference sources which could provide insight since circumstances change every year. Nevertheless, through research and studying, we have created a solid final product which presents the “Integrated Communication Marketing” in a news website from focusing specifically on Newsbomb.gr the site I am currently employed as editor.
