Summary:
These last years, the books of religious content have known considerable expansion. In
particular, the orthodox christian book, as a kind of religious book, is characterized by a wide
variety of publications that can be divided into individual categories with the Bible, Old and
New Testament, as common base and starting point of all. Among the orthodox christian
books that have been released, there are quite many publications addressed to children and
young people. As, therefore, the goal of the educational process that takes place at school, is
to promote and develop the students’ bookish spirit, the orthodox christian book offers rich
material to strengthen the educational reading-friendly practices. In addition, is a fact that,
because of the religious book’s nature, its utilization may have multiple benefits for young
readers, because it touches on a number of areas, with the main focus on morale. Lastly,
although the inclusion of the orthodox christian book can be a challenge for teachers, it also
offers them many opportunities for successful interdisciplinary approach to the teaching
objects making the course more interesting and more interactive for the student audience.
Consequently, the inclusion of orthodox christian books in the syllabus of Greek school is
considered to be multi-beneficial for pupils and necessary to improve the level of education
provided.
