Summary:
Scheduled and unscheduled medical care in pregnancy is considered one of the most important factors that lead to the spectacular improvement of pregnancy outcomes historically and with the improvement of the socioeconomic level.
The term Unscheduled Medical care in Pregnancy refers to all types of unscheduled medical care that is offered to treat acute and unscheduled medical problems during pregnancy.
The unscheduled medical problems in pregnancy can be the result of obstetric or non-obstetric diseases. Treatment of non-obstetric diseases is offered by physicians of non-obstetric specialties. Non-obstetric diseases include among others respiratory diseases (infections, asthma), cardiovascular (valve diseases, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias, aortic diseases, ischemic cardiopathy), urinary tract (infections, lithiasis, acute renal injury), digestive tract ( hyperemesis, gastroesophageal reflux, infectious gastroenteritis, intestinal obstruction, acute appendicitis , acute cholecystitis, viral hepatitis), skin, nervous system (headache, migraine, vascular cerebral diseases), fetal infections.
House calls are part of unscheduled medical care in pregnancy. The study objective is to describe the characteristics of house calls in pregnancy. For this purpose, we collected the data of 102 house calls to pregnant women by the SOS Doctors network in Attica region from January 2013 up to August 2022 and we studied their characteristics.
