The Digital Drama and its Utilization in the Educational Process
Summary:
The doctoral thesis entitled "Digital Drama and its Utilization in the Educational Process" is a study developed on the basis of the Bibliographic Research methodology. The research is structured in five chapters and seeks to provide a theoretical background related to the field of the confluence of Theatre, New Technologies and Pedagogical Science. The first chapter attempts to delineate a rich and largely indistinct terminology around Digital Drama, such as digital storytelling, live streaming theatre, Online Theatre, as well as the terms Cyber-Theatre, Cyber Drama, Cyberformance and the particular form of Cyborg Theatre. In the second chapter, a special mention is made to he technologies and digital media that are used in the production and communication of the products of the aforementioned combination between dramatic art and ICT. Subsequently, the third chapter attempts to explore and analyze the concept and function of the role that is at the heart of the theatrical phenomenon with or without the use of new technologies. Starting from the concept of role in theatre, a mention is made of the social role, its function in Online Social Networks, as well as the relationship that develops with the issue of illusion. Our reflection is led to Digital Role-Playing Games and the use of avatars, which are studied and emerge as fields that have a wide range and potential for analysis. In the fourth chapter, we conclude with our essential proposal, which is the development of the multidimensional form of digital contemporary theatrical expression (act, music, artistic exposition etc.), a creative "synthesis" of analogue theatrical reality and new technologies that can be achieved in the school environment. The validation f this proposal is based on the modern and fundamental pedagogical and learning theories and requires he observance of clearly defined educational scenarios. The individual activities suggested are not only related to the presentation but are also concerned with creative activities that precede and follow it. The fifth chapter concludes the study with a specific and detailed reference to both the students' and the teacher's function within this context.
