Summary:
This thesis is oriented towards the reflection that stems from the issues of bioethical science and the absence of a substantial connection of the latter with the curriculum, resulting to the inability to create a framework of teaching methods concerning the subject of bioethics at schools. A framework that will be able to transmit knowledge and inspire the reflection. The research is structured on the basis of investigating the relationship between bioethics and education, highlighting the importance of teaching bioethics through the teaching of the language course as well as other courses too, and the presentation of teaching methods to aid the teaching of bioethical issues in schools. In order to do so, we set out to identify any bioethical issues mentioned in the school textbooks and list the inadequacies observed in those specific books (grade Junior High School - High School). The aim was to highlight these inadequacies in order to promote the bioethical education at school. Specifically, in the first part of the research, the amount of the issues related to bioethics will be investigated quantitatively and qualitatively. The quantitative content analysis here refers to the set of the bioethical issues that are raised in school textbooks, their location in the textbooks and their frequency. Accordingly, qualitative analysis refers to the core and the nature of the bioethical issues presented in school textbooks. The goal, deriving from this content analysis, is to justify our position concerning the deficiencies and the weaknesses of bioethical education in schools, as well as to create a list of bioethical issues that can be taught and can be connected to the educational process. In the practical part of the research, a project was designed concerning the teaching of Bioethics. The aim of the project is to create and propose a framework of teaching strategies in order to promote the subject of Bioethics in the Secondary Education. Finally, during the third part of the thesis, the research findings are presented, both from the theoretical framework and the practical part, as well as the concerns and proposals regarding the research topic will be recorded. It is an interdisciplinary research, the aim of which is, in one respect, to highlight the importance of bioethical education, as well as to structure the appropriate teaching methodology of bioethics through school textbooks, which, among other things, must be suitable to the age, the intellectual development and the interests of the students and must take into account the particularities of today's school.
