Summary:
The present study aims to examine the evolution of water skiing and simultaneously explore its impact as a sport and recreational activity in order to identify its cultural value in the modern era. The sources utilized are secondary sources: scientific books and articles in reputable journals, studies in conference proceedings, official websites of National and International Federations, and distinguished athletes, as well as articles in the news media. Beyond the introduction, it is divided into three sections. The first section records the evolution of water skiing from the first half of the 20th century, mentioning the disciplines and the role of technology in this progression. The second section highlights the top athletes through their achievements in championships and the countries that ultimately take the lead. The third section examines the cultural value of water skiing, presenting material related to the use of areas for competitions, tournaments, shows, and theme parks. It documents anniversary events during which local history is showcased on the one hand, and different communities interact and culture is cultivated on the other. The contribution of water skiing as a means of education and inclusion is mentioned, and it is presented as an expression of art through the harmony developed between sport and technology. Water skiing offers a sense of freedom and well-being in an environment of aesthetic enjoyment, contributes to positive human interaction, and shapes the cultural fabric.
