Development of a computer application for automated and guided composition of radiological reports
Summary:
AIM
The creation of a computer application, through which we will be able to compose a dental radiological report in a directed and automated way.

MATERIALS AND METHODS
For its construction, the PHP programming language was used for communication with the database and Javascript for interface mechanisms. The database is MySQL. All software programs are open and free and both installation and operation are independent of the operating system. The web-based automatic report generation requires no installation and works in any browser. AJAX architecture was also used in the application. This is a combination of server-side programming language, which in our case is PHP and client-side programming language which is Javascript.

RESULTS
Creation of comprehensive and uniform dental radiological reports by the application user. Efficiency and consistency are provided in the evaluation of the radiological cases and thorough diagnostic analysis can be carried out without omission of findings. Also the radiological reports can be implemented in a reasonable period of time. In this way, the entire consultation process acquires a high diagnostic level and at the same time constitutes an important educational tool.

DISCUSSION-CONCLUSIONS
This dynamic application created with the help of the computer is a weapon in the quiver of today’s radiologist, in order to be able to interpret in a clear, comprehensible and uniform manner the radiographs of the patients referred to him. It is an innovative project as well as a helpfull training tool. The ultimate goal of all this is the patient and his correct treatment by the referring physician, with the most appropriate treatment plan.
