Job Satisfaction & Burnout of teachers
Summary:
The study aimed to explore the job satisfaction and burnout levels among teachers in Greece. Initially, a review of international literature was conducted, followed by a quantitative study using the Teachers' Satisfaction Inventory (TSI) and Maslach Burnout Inventory Test (MBI). The investigation into job satisfaction focused on variables such as relations with colleagues, principal, students, financial rewards, working environment, and nature of work. The mean Likert scores indicated a moderate satisfaction across all variables, suggesting that teachers in Greece generally experience moderate job satisfaction.
The study also examined burnout through the variables of emotional burnout, depersonalization, and personal achievement. Emotional burnout levels were low, depersonalization levels were moderate, and personal achievement levels were very low, indicating low self-esteem and high burnout. Each variable portrayed different levels of burnout, making it challenging to draw a definitive conclusion about overall burnout levels among teachers in Greece. The findings suggest a probable moderate level of burnout among teachers.
In summary, the study indicates that teachers in Greece generally experience moderate job satisfaction, and their level of burnout is likely moderate. The authors recommend further research with a larger sample size to enhance the representativeness, reliability, and validity of the conclusions drawn.
