Perceptions of native and foreign adolescents on dimensions of friendship
Summary:
The present study examines the perceptions of adolescent students regarding friendship and compares data between native students and students with different cultural backgrounds. The sample consisted of 976 secondary education students from Junior High School and High School. Participants completed self-report questionnaires on the quality of their friendships (Mendelson & Aboud, 2014). The results indicated statistically significant differences among students who have different cultural profiles. The findings highlight the importance of friendship for the social adaptation of students and underscore the need for further research on other factors predicting the quality of children's friendships.
