Summary:
Introduction: The disease of the respiratory system in pediatric patients is the subject of investigation of this specific work.

Purpose: The collection of data from the recent literature on the clinical diagnosis and management of respiratory infections in pediatric patients based on the new data of medical science with the aim of optimal and better management and treatment of respiratory infections. In this literature review, the respiratory system and its infections in childhood are referred to and understood, emphasis is placed on pediatric asthma, and the special part of the paper analyzes the spirometry procedure performed by pediatric patients for the assessment of asthma and pulmonary their functionality.

Material – Method: The PubMed and Cochrane Library databases were searched using keywords.

Results: Asthma is one of the most common diseases in Pediatrics and affects approximately 15-20% of children on average per year. In Greece the percentage varies between 5-10% of children.
It is observed globally that 7.2% is the incidence of asthma where 6% of this percentage concerns the adult population and 10% concerns the children's population where they develop asthma. There are diagnostic tests to diagnose asthma, guidelines on how to manage and treat these patients as well as training both parents/guardians and children themselves to use asthma management.
Conclusions: For the best treatment of pediatric patients with asthma, early diagnosis, the use of appropriate treatment according to the needs and characteristics of the patient using the guidelines and recommendations that have been created is important. Studies on the management and treatment of pediatric patients are constantly being updated as medical science continues to evolve. For this reason, the management and treatment of pediatric patients changes in accordance with the resulting guidelines with the aim of optimal and faster recovery of patients and their return to everyday life and their own lifestyle.
