The social integration of refugees and immigrants in Greece and European Union from 2015 to 2020.
Summary:
The aim of this thesis is the examination of the social integration of migrants and refugees in Greece and other countries of European Union during the five-year period from 2015 to 2020. Specifically, the under-examination period starts at year 2015 that is considered as a milestone, due to the massive income of refugees (mainly from Syria) on European soil due to the war. In this direction, the main terms related to migration and then a historical and sociological review will take place. Then, the focus will be moved towards the Decrees Law, mainly enacted in Greece, aiming to resolve the problem and the Migration Policy that European Union followed during that period. Next, the role and actions of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) will be examined and their affection to the immigration crisis. A key point of this thesis will be the presentation and analysis of MIPEX index; that is heavily related to the interpretation and understanding of integration of migrants to societies. In the last part of the project, conclusions will be drawn using literature research and available data. These conclusions will be related to the extend up to which migrants are adopted and integrated in European Societies and the effectiveness of countries in their attempt to handle Migration Crisis will be reviewed and evaluated.
