Summary:
In the ever-changing society, where diversity dominates, there is an urgent need for inclusion, equality and justice of different symbolic and social roles and groups. Gender representations in textbooks are particularly important because they influence students' perception and behavior towards gender and women. The purpose of this study is to investigate gender depictions in the Curricula and School Textbooks of the Religious Education course of all grades of Junior High School and High School. In the research department, the frequency and conceptual correlation of words – references related to the representation of the male and female gender respectively, the choices in illustration, and the messages they convey are studied. Then, for the purposes of the study, a teaching proposal for students of 1st grade of High Scholl is structured and presented. The proposed scenario aims to raise awareness of gender inequality issues, cultivate their critical thinking and remove any entrenched stereotypical perceptions about gender relations.
