“The Information of dementia in social and personal relationships. Interpretation in the psychological and phenomenological analysis of the feeling of shame”
Summary:
In the following thesis, all forms of dementia will be analyzed (frontal, vascular, geriatric, etc.) and to connect with Social Pedagogy, we will focus on geriatric dementia, how it affects the elderly and how it can improve the way of life of the elderly through programs. Dementia is a general term used to describe a group of mental disorders caused by biological or psychological causes that affect a person's daily functioning. Forms of dementia can vary in degree and symptoms, and affect various mental functional areas such as memory, attention, language ability, judgment and social behavior. Dementia is a heterogeneous syndrome that can be caused by many different neurological and other conditions, so this will be followed by an introduction to dementia, some of the key concerns surrounding it, and the changing contexts in which dementia is understood. Experiences of people with dementia and their environment are also presented.
The thesis centers around social marginality, beginning with a description of existing psychological models of marginality in dementia patients. In terms of social marginalization, it refers to social isolation or the inability to participate in society in the same way that someone else could. People with dementia may find themselves marginalized because of the behavioral and personality changes associated with the disease. It is important to note that each case of dementia is unique and the effects on social marginalization may vary from person to person. Support from family, friends and the community can help people with dementia maintain an active and participatory social environment. Also, having specialist health and social care services can provide important support to people with dementia and help them remain integrated into society. In such situations social pedagogy takes action which refers to "enhancing and securing rights, quality education, the development of individuals, lifelong learning, improvement and change."
Here we will present social pedagogic institutions committed to the basic principles of social pedagogy, such as: protection of human rights, lifelong personal and social development of the individual, creation of positive experiences, informal education, development of enhanced emotional and social skills and in general the full development of personality for their improvement and change.
