Summary:
The role of the school principal in crisis management and response within the school environment is critical for ensuring the safety and well-being of students, staff, and the community at large. Principals need to possess specialized knowledge and skills to address critical situations, effectively communicate with members of the school community, and coordinate response and recovery actions. Their key responsibilities include developing and revising crisis management plans, providing administrative support during emergencies, and managing communication with parents, authorities, and other schools or organizations.
Therefore, the main purpose of the study is to explore methods and strategies for crisis management and response in the school environment by the school leader, the principal. Emphasizing the need for timely and effective preparation of a crisis management and response plan by both principals and educators in schools for the crises they may encounter during their educational journey.
To collect the data, the questionnaire method was used, which was distributed electronically to teachers, both of public and private primary education, in the region of Attica. Subsequently, the data were statistically processed using the SPSS statistical data analysis package. Finally, the results highlighted the leading role of the principal in managing and dealing with crises in the school environment, through communication and the creation of positive relationships with members of the school community.
