Summary:
The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes of primary education teachers regarding the pedagogical approach of positive education and outdoor learning. Positive education arises as the combination of the science of positive psychology with teaching and aims to encourage and support individuals within the school and educational structures, so that they can lead to the best possible result and develop a positive feeling for the educational processes. The teaching method of outdoor learning belongs to the innovative teaching methodologies, is environmentally focused and characterized by actions and thematic learning processes that include outdoor activities. A common thread of the above approaches is experientiality which aims at individual’s well-being. The research included fifteen (15) teachers, who work in a private primary school in Eastern Attica. Based on the needs of this research, the qualitative methodology was chosen as the most appropriate, while the semi-structured interview was selected as the data collection tool. The results of the present study highlighted the knowledge and opinions of the teachers regarding positive psychology and positive education, the attitudes and opinions of the teachers regarding the outdoor learning method and the attitudes of the teachers regarding the change of the educational system and the application of elements of positive education and outdoor education. Additionally, based on the results, suggestions for further investigation are presented.
