Theology Educators proficiency in Human Rights Education and Religious Education, in Greece
Summary:
The present thesis was carried out in the framework of the Postgraduate Programme "Orthodox Theology" of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). It explores the knowledge, attitudes and skills of religious Educators in Human Rights Education, as defined by the Council of Europe since 2000. A quantitative methodology was followed, where 305 religious Educators responded to a 64-question structured questionnaire during the 2020-21 school year. The analysis was conducted using the IBM SPSS statistical package and demonstrated the need for further training, in Human Rights Education for religious Educators and the need to reorganize the education system. Religious Educators also seem to support the teaching of Human Rights through Religious Education, with their personal perception and training influencing the way their course is taught.
