Summary:
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the research is to investigate and identify the reasons why teachers
choose to train in special education. The research was conducted through semistructured interviews choosing the qualitative methodological approach. The
research sample consisted of ten primary and secondary school teachers. The
research data showed that there are several reasons that can lead to training in
special education for teachers. Teachers wish to have more knowledge in special
education in order to be prepared to deal with the complex and complex needs of
students with special/special learning needs. Teachers also want to enhance their
knowledge in order to be able to manage the challenges and difficulties that arise
in the context of inclusion. Another important reason for special education training
for teachers is their desire to offer help and support to students who have greater
needs. Training in special education is also considered important by teachers to
deal with difficulties in the classroom as well as the shortcomings of education to
support students with special/special learning needs. Future research is needed that
explores teachers' experiences with supporting students to participate in classroom
activities and to modify classroom activities. This research would be particularly
important because the results could be included in the planning of their training.
