Stress and burnout of special education teachers in primary education
Summary:
Special education teachers are often faced with difficult and challenging situations in the context of teaching children with disabilities in the classroom. These challenges, which teachers have to face, often lead to burnout and chronic stress. Burnout is a state of emotional, physical and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. The purpose of this study is to investigate the levels of stress and burnout among special education teachers in primary education. The research sample consists of 174 special education teachers working in primary education in both special and general schools. The data collection method includes questionnaires that examine various dimensions of stress and burnout, as well as demographic data. The results of the survey indicate that special education teachers experience high levels of stress and burnout. In particular, the research finds that lack of professional development and support is associated with higher levels of stress and burnout and highlights the need for targeted interventions to improve working conditions and reduce stress and burnout among special education teachers.
