Summary:
The subject of this thesis is the use of social media from political leaders and parties
in generaι, mainly during the pre-election period and outside of it. Various aspects of
this subject are analyzed in the work. Briefly, it begins with an introduction to the
relationship between politics and social media by looking back to the current state of
the field. The second chapter is dedicated to the most popular social media and their
analysis. Then the interest of the research turns to the relationship between
politicians and social media, which is the main thematic axis of the work. Another
important chapter of this work is the fourth which deals with the phenomenon of
internet trolls and bots. Finally, the results of a quantitative research are presented
in order to verify the theoretical conclusions drawn from the work.
