Fractal Geometry in Architecture and the use in Mathematics Education
Summary:
The present paper refers to the relationship between Fractal Geometry and
Architecture, in Mathematics Education’s t context. Firstly, through an
historical review about Architecture and fractals relationship is investigated
the reason that led to the use of fractals before and after Fractals Geometry
foundation. The main reason of this relationship is the continuous pursuit to
involve natural elements into creations. Fractal Geometry is the nature’s
mathematical language and gives us harmony. Then, a research conducted and the
participants were two architecture students. It is noticed that as students
sketch they present fractal properties, especially self-similarity without
mathematical rigorousness. What is more, students consider Fractal Geometry as
a new geometry and a new creative tool.
