Summary:
The subject of this thesis is a study involving three 16-year old students, who voluntarily participated in the implementation of the educational scenario “The Escape Route”. The purpose of the research is to investigate whether the specific educational game- based learning activity and the overall instruction of the History course can contribute to the development of intercultural awareness skills, by utilizing the computational environment of the digital educational game-based learning activities as a tool of instruction. Personal witnessing statements used as sources are a key element of the game-based learning activity. The data was collected after transcribing both the individual work of the students and the conversations between students and the researcher, whereas the analysis of the collected data was conducted by showcasing the entire episode played by each player. The research method used for the purposes of this investigation is the design research method.
