Free Groups and the Topology of Finite Graphs
Summary:
In the study of free groups, in many cases difficulties arise if someone uses group-theoretic tools only. By using graphs and some special morphisms between them, as tools for this study, we can prove in an intuitive manner several crucial results on free groups. In this master thesis we follow Stallings’ paper [1] and we provide proofs on some of those results, such as the theorems of Howson and of M. Hall.
