Summary:
The present work aims to study the mental life of children living in child protection institutions, on the basis of psychoanalytic concepts that are deeply related to the clinic and the development of subjects. The data were analyzed based on the analysis of content, reason and significance in the answers given by the subjects of the research to the Duss Myths test. 4 of the 10 myths that study the issue of separation / independence (1st), the primary scene (2nd), the castration complex (6th) and the oedipal complex (8th) were selected and analyzed. The data were collected from 20 children, aged five to twelve, who live in two child protection institutions.
Regarding the value and validity of the problem tool, it seemed that it captures something nuclear from the children's history, while there are some significant ones for each child that may be related to the history and its difficulties. It also becomes apparent that through myths children are supported in constructing a first subjective construction of their story.
In the issue of separation / independence, the attitude of the children (active or passive) seems to be related to the presence or absence of a symptom in the child but also the quality of the conciliation with the researcher. From the children's answers to the three myths concerning the oedipal complex, most of them seem to have been introduced into a problematic oedipus, while here too the uniqueness of the subject's answers is evident.
There was no significant differentiation based only on the category of the reason for referral, while a categorical variable in which there seems to be differences is the type of institution and the time spent in the institution. The care signifier is a repetitive signifier that emerges in the speech and identities of children living without parents, as shown in other similar research. The operation of the institution is reflected in the speech of the children as an intermediary person or animal that the child turns to for help, as an intermediary between the child and the parents.
