ANALYSIS AND AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR IN THE AGGRESSIVE ZONE OF GERMAN AND WALES TEAMS IN EURO 2016
Summary:
The aim of this study is to register and resolve the frequency that football teams’ entry into their attacking third when they play at high level matches, as their technical and tactical actions that made inside and outside that field with purpose to make reasonable questions and concerns for the coaches and for the tactical training methods that they are called to follow and adapt based on the different conditions that are created during a match.
For this purpose, were analyzed the offensive actions in their offensive third of Germany and Wales (N=255) that participated in the European tournament EURO 2016 until the semifinal phase. Were studied totally 12 matches, 6 for each team. For the analyze of the attacking behavior for both teams used the microsoft exel program and some of the variables that studied was: the score when entering the attacking third, the time period of entry, the way the attack started before the entrance, the technical and tactical action before the entrance, the player who received the ball inside the attacking third, the way the final action was made and its final result. The results showed that both of the teams entered to their attacking third mainly during the first half especially between 16΄-30΄ (48.3%), when the score was tied (50.70%) and mostly after organized attacks (47.91%). In addition, from technical point of view the entry into the attacking third was made from short passes (34.42%) and penetrating passes (50.23%). The player who received first the ball inside the attacking third was the attacker (79.07%). In to the attacking third was observed a big percentage of finishes (67.19%) from open play game. In the end, from 215 attacks, 64 was made final actions and 7 goals were scored.
The conclusion from the above was that from the coaching point of view more intensive effort can be given to improve the realistic tactical approaching when a team attacks under the pressure of time and in a limited space (attacking third). That’s why training should improve the regular reaction of the players, giving a more realistic character to the exercises and training methods, creating a simulation of a match.
