Design based Research for the εnhanchment of the active participiation of students with intervention in the 1st Grade of High-school using the Problem Solving Strategy and the Experiencial Learning Methods of the Theatre Pedagogy
Summary:
This thesis concerns a Design based Research, which has to do with an intervention to the 1st Grade of High-school in Greece. This intervention aims at enhancing the active participation of students in regards to Greek Language Lessons and specifically to the teaching of Written and Oral Speech. Therefore, the researcher needs to design a Learning Module, using a Task-based Language Teaching Approach in conjunction with a Communicative Language Teaching Approach and activities related to Problem Based Learning and to Experiential Learning. More specifically, we propose the use of Learning Strategies inspired by Branford’s and Stein’s Model of Problem Solving and by Theatre Pedagogy. The researcher uses the tool of classroom observation (as observer and as participant) to collect the data required, which she then proceeds to analyze and interpret. The observation is based on a number of factors affecting students’ active participation in class. The researcher uses only a certain part of the Learning Module and collects the data according to that part, and then she suggests a solution to the problem.
