Summary:
In the present thesis, those elements that constitute the research topic "Design of the Museum Space and the Experience of the Visitor. The Role of Lighting" are detected and recorded. The study records, compares and presents the issue of light from the shell, inside the museum space in order to highlight its contribution to the entire museum organization. Examples were chosen that support the different uses of light and the creation of a different experience for the visitor. Clarifying the different uses of lighting raises different questions such as which criterion was chosen, what purpose it serves, how it helps viewing and possibly learning. Through the cases that are presented, we gradually move to a critical reading of lighting in the creation of exhibition environments.
At the same time, there is a wide collection and critical analysis of a plethora of books from different fields. As lighting in the museum space is a complex phenomenon, it was deemed necessary to see it in the light of the science of conservation, architecture, exhibition practice and museology. At the same time, the issue of the environment, the creation of atmosphere and their contribution to the experience are raised. The different approaches to the issue of lighting highlight the diverse possibilities of presenting the modern changing museum. In the effort to gather material, important elements emerged from the interviews of the museum professionals. The purpose of this study is to highlight the role of lighting in the museum space and to proceed with the combination of the technical part with the theoretical approach, creating a springboard for further study.
