Summary:
In this thesis we study the necessity of connecting everyday life and the "real world" with the science of Chemistry. After an extensive study of the literature, the great need for students to relate their knowledge to their daily lives is clearly visible. Using the winemaking process as a vehicle, after first thoroughly studying the complex chemical components of wine, special worksheets adapted to the level of high school students were created. These worksheets concern the following six (6) thematic units: Organic Components, Content, Enzyme Reactions, Metabolism in wine, Adulteration of Wine, Identification of functional groups.
