Summary:
The continue movements of population over the world, either due to global economic crisis or an ongoing war in their homeland, have create the need of making an intercultural community, which would be able to support and integrate harmoniously and equally them. Career counselors which are increasingly being called in our country, consists one of the parts of intercultural community’s development. The reason is why they bridge the distance among people of different cultural backgrounds. The aim of this study is to examine the ability of career counselors to cope with people’s needs from other cultures in process of counseling. Concretely, the focus is on examining multicultural counselors’ ability, multicultural counselors’ skills, knowledge about multicultural issues and their punditry, knowledge about barriers in multicultural counseling, counselor’s cultural awareness and multicultural terminology.
In this study 71 participants are selected, work as career counselors both in the public and private sector. They were invited to submit a questionnaire online. Results indicate that the overall of participants have multicultural counseling competence decently, except of some answers which designate insufficiency of some of them. Moreover, this study indicated the relation between multicultural dimensions, while the one’s increasing has increasingly influence to the others too.
