A reflective teacher who reflects upon his lesson plans, their implementation and their effectiveness on students’ learning outcomes and the lives of each member of the school community always searches for comprehensive and autonomous self-training methods in the service of self-development and self-understanding in order to change. The ideal context of that process seems to be the action research where the teacher is involved in a continuous reflection process. This paper is based on a research on that process within an action research project which is conducted in a high school of Acharnes (Athens) beginning in 2012. The analysis of the data highlights the fact that the reflection process advances when it is a personal need of the teacher. Furthermore the role of the facilitator seems to be quite crucial for the possible transformation of the experience to concrete and stable knowledge.
