In the present study, the weights of 210 senile cataractous lenses were examined according to sex and the coexistence of systemic diseases, i.e., diabetes mellitus and hypertension. It was found that female cataractous lenses were significantly heavier than male cataractous lenses and that cataractous lenses of diabetic or hypertensive subjects were significantly heavier than those of subjects without systemic disease.
