EIKON is a sophisticated and flexible library of general purpose image processing routines. It contains modules for low level image processing such as filtering, edge extraction and image enchancement. More advanced prototype routines perform high level image processing operations such as image and edge encoding, texture analysis and object recognition. The use of EIKON is supported by a powerful parser which recognizes and parses "image" commands. Two applications of EIKON, isocontour vectorizing and 3D matching of image stereopairs are discussed. © 1989.
